The New River Valley Development Corporation
is a non-profit organization which was formed in 1983 by the Counties of
Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski, and the Towns of Blacksburg, Christiansburg,
and Pulaski, and the City of Radford. The Corporation consists of four representatives
of these eight localities and one additional member appointed by the Planning
District Commission. The Development Corporation is representative of business,
government, finance, and civic organizations.
The mission of the Development Corporation is to provide business assistance.
In discharging that mission, the Corporation provides:
Information and Referral
The Corporation maintains relationships with numerous organizations in
the region and beyond to provide those seeking business assistance with
contacts which can best address their questions and meet their business
development needs.
Financial Assistance
The Corporation is the point of access for loan funds
serving the region. The Corporation manages the New River Valley Revolving Loan Fund.
These funds are directed toward businesses which are developing an association
with one of the incubator facilities, the multi-tenant facility, or are
eligible for location in one of the facilities.
Incubator and Multi-tenant Facilities
The Corporation is working with the New River Valley Competitiveness Center.
The Corporation constructed a 54,000 square foot incubator and regional
office facility. The Corporation is offering incubator tenants counseling
with business plan development, financial management and other business
assistance as needed. It also offers meeting space, shipping and receiving,
photocopying and faxing services to its tenants.
